Hi, I am Dorien.

You can find my professional information via LinkedIn. And if you don’t have that much time, a veryveryvery short overview right here, right now:

-2004-2007: journalist for Het Belang van Limburg and/but above all project manager of the citizen journalism project HasseltLokaal. My company Concentra gave me the chance to work out this project and I’m still very grateful for that. For several reasons.

1. It made me realise there’s more to a newspaper than the journalists (journalists are ego-trippers and really (willingly) forget that). I consulted marketing, technical, financial and legal people on my way. It gave me a very good overview of my company, which I never would have had writing my articles every day.
2. I discovered the world of geeks. For somebody who’s always been into languages it was quite some discovery. Geeks tend to be social, very social even. That’s why I ended up at the Girl Geek Dinners and Barcamps organised by and for geeks. By the way: I’m loving it :-)
3. It made me think about my future. Thanks to the very positive results and feedback I got at the HasseltLokaal project, I wanted to broaden my scope, which is why I am wortking
-from 2008 onwards at CityLive, a start-up specialised in mobile. I am the community manager, dealing with the several clients and users of our projects. I feel part of the future like that, actually I feel as if I’m right in the middle. Well, I am right in the middle ;-)

And some more personal things about me: I love traveling (last big trip was to Australia, most waw trip was to Israel in 2005) and I try to do some sports (running and squash).  I love languages and above all the beautiful German language :-) I am following a course on medicinal herbs and I am active in a few organisations. There’s actually not much I’m NOT interested in, which is quite a big advantage, but can be a disadvantage as well.
