Funny to suddenly discover a film with myself as the leading actress čśë At the Picnic event I met Paul Bradshaw from the Online Journalism Blog. He asked me to say in front of his camera that I read his blog. Recently he put the result online. He also caught Luc Van Braekel, one of Belgium’s most famous bloggers and at the third place (!!) in the recently published Metatale Top 100. In other words, Paul caught a big fish čśë Here the result.

Paul also asked me to write a report on Belgian (Flemish) online journalism to put on his blog. It’s on my to do-list for December. So if you have any advice for me, or think that I shoud really mention this or that initiative, let me know! I want to make a distinction between initiatives of media companies on the one hand and ‘citizen’ initiatives on the other. Which means that I should definitely mention the online platform of the Standaard newpaper┬áthat has always been very innovative. And also Gent Blogt, the first and most famous city blog in Belgium. It takes place 4 in the Metatale Top 100, right behind Luc’s blog. Don’t agree with my distinction?Or do you have┬ásome advice? Let me know!!

Yesterdag, the whole Belgian blogosphere was thrown into commotion. The reason? Metatale┬ápublished its top 100 of most influential Belgian blogs. It is based on some kind of calculation, measuring the amount of entries a blogger posts, the comments a blogger gets on his blog or┬áposts on other blogs etc. And of course, everybody is curious whether they are in the top 100 or not. And like always, some bloggers (usually the ones that are not in) question the analysis tool used, others praise it to heaven (usually because they are more popular than expected). At any case, the Belgian blogosphere was more alive than ever čÖé

And some more striking things:

  • ┬áAbout Metatale: my personal blog┬áhas a rank of 14 according to Metatale. Since the top 100 ends with rank 17, I’m not that far off this top. Especially┬ábecause I hadn’t been posting that much lately, I was kind of surprised. So the logarithm has counted in my advantage čÖé
  • About my company: A manager at my company is looking for an employee. She asked me to use my LinkedIn network┬áto spread the word. I think it’s quite good that the management values social networks. Even though I think they’re pretty desperate to find a new employee (a market researcher, so in case you know anyone čśë
